Nōtan is a Japanese design concept involving the play and placement of light and dark as they are placed next to the other in art and imagery. Our 5th graders recently created their own Nōtan designs with 6" x 6" squares of construction paper. We focused on positive/negative space, contrast, and creating unique designs. Great job 5th graders!
