2nd Grade -- Emperor Penguins

Emperors are the largest of all penguins—an average bird stands some 45 inches (115 centimeters) tall. These flightless animals live on the Antarctic ice and in the frigid surrounding waters.  We viewed a PowerPoint presentation on these penguins, examining the features, colors, and size of the birds.  From there, the students chose whether they would create a baby emperor penguin or an adult emperor penguin.  They used pencil and oil pastels to draw out the penguin.  The cool colors were then used in watercolor form to create a sky in the background.
